I have learned in working with organizations, especially churches and non-profits that there tends to be one of three different ways an organizations operates. Whether they operate in one of these three ways under a strategic plan (organized operation) or not (chaos operation), organizations tend to fall into one of these three modes.
Impact Mode: When an organization operates in impact mode, its focus is on its mission and making an impact.
Preservation Mode: When an organization operates in preservation mode, it operates from a place of fear.
Head in the Sand Mode: When an organization operates in this mode, ignoring the world around them, it operates from a place of arrogance (and sometimes even ignorance).
